The main theme on this site is radio controlled vehicles, and more specifically Tamiya Vintage and current models, from 1976 to now. It is a hobby, better said a passion, in which I fell back into after some 20 years .Whatever their age, all these models once were designed to run: this is the reason why every model in my collection periodically hits the track. For me, this is a way of keeping them alive. |
Thanks for your visit

Thanks to "Cookie Monster of Tamiya Street" (you know who you are
), I updated the article about Tamiya re-releases to add new models.
So far, Tamiya is the only RC brand to offer the re-release of some of their models, sometimes more than 30 years after their first appearance. This new article is a complete overview of these re-releases, some of them being true replicas of the orignal model, others focusing on the original model's philosophy.
Exactly 5 years ago, my Blackfoot Xtreme was the first RC entry on the Black Hole Sun website.
But let's first have a look on what happened in 2011:
many new RC Guide Books and Catalogues thanks to Tony and Replay who completed those already offered by Clive and Guillaume
openning of BaraToZ drivers' interviews
7 new models joined my collection
All this activity seems to have grown the interest for the site since you were even more to visit it:
more than 75.000 unique visitors over the year, that is an average of over 9.000 visits per month
more than 300.000 page viewed over the year, that is over 25.000 per month
close to 2/3rd of displayed pages are English versions, showing the international interest for the site
last, the videos on my Youtube channel were viewed close to 150.000 times over the year
Thank you for being so many to visit the site every day, thank you for your interest.
For 2012, several vintage models already joined my collection and I am currently writing the articles. There is also a new article I am preparing to complete the Tamiya section.
As a conclusion, I was far from anticipating how big this site would grow when I published the first entry in the RC section back on january 8th, 2007, that is exactly 5 years ago. This site exists thanks to all RC fans around the world who publish websites, articles or replies on forums. Thanks to all of you who inspired me, from whom I learnt and keep learning, I do my best to share this passion. Thank you.
RC for Old Nuts is a brand new website created by my friend Teamneogordini. It is about old iconic RC models from any brand, but presented from the user passion point of view instead of technics and performances.
The website name means "RC for oldies" but it doesn't say whether "oldies" or "nuts" refer to the models or the readers
.
Anyway. I'm a fan of this website concept, thus its addition to the -Live From- section so you are informed about the latest entries. Right from its launch, I think RC for Old Nuts is a must for any RC fan in general.
The team from Black Hole Sun website (which is me, I and myself
) wishes you the best for 2012.
The model that got me back into RC just left my collection. This model was the first entry of this website (even if a non-RC dedicated version was already available) and it also got me into Tamiya and vintage models. Apart from making room for upcoming models, I no longer had so much pleasure in running it: not vintage enough compared to its predecessor King Blackfoot.
It is not a new arrival, but the second big update about one of my favorite model.
After publishing a complete review about this model I run very often, I installed several options to make it even better. It is now ready for even more runs in the next months when the weather is warmer.
By luck, there pure jewels on internet: Tamiyablog is one of them. For 5 years and for free, Tamiyablog has been offering the fan community reliable news about new Tamiya models, covering international RC fairs and anything related to the brand.
But Tamiyablog's team goes even further: they publish detailled articles to present models and offer very relevant analysis on Tamiya, models and the RC world.
If you still haven't found Tamiyablog, pay them a visit and see by yourself. As a bonus, Tamiyablog celebrates their 5 year anniversary by offering a Sand Rover 2011 to the winner of the competition they organize to celebrate the event.
And if you want to stay tuned to the freshiest reliables news, subscribe their RSS feed... for free. This is what passion is all about: sharing with other.
Thank you Tamiyablog, congratulations for these 5 great years.
Our favorite journalist was about to get depressed when a phone call revived his instincts...
After more than 2 years of intense running, I seriously updated its review. At last.
This is the most modern model in my collection, but also the one featuring the oldest bodyshell. At least in theory since the Porsche 935 Martini is the modern lexan replica of the second RC model released by Tamiya back in 1977.
A new model reaches my collection, swapped with my F-150. The Road Wizard is a quite rare model that is not very much sought after by collectors. But to me, it is important as it is the precursor of every modern Formula 1 from Tamiya.
Several new models were announced lately, among which the Blackfoot III (a poor Blackfoot Xtreme with a Super Blackfoot body and refreshed stickers), the 1984 Fast Attack Vehicle and the Blitzer Beetle re-releases. The Sand Rover receives the same punishment as the Holiday Buggy to close the 400 series and to start the 500's.
I fitted an EZ-Run combo on this model since it will be my practice runner. Made to suffer my driving mistakes, I will dedicate it to improve my great skills in roll overs and attempts in the fine art of lawn mowing.
Evans father and son created what became one of the RC best-seller of all times. Once upon a time in Mississipi...
