The 400 series (58401-58500)

Latest ongoing series. Tamiya needs approximately 5 years to release a hundred models: the 584xx series should then last until year 2012. Concerning the kit number 58999, it shouldn't be released before circa 2037. If the kit reference type doesn't change in the meantime, if Tamiya still produces RC models and if this web site can last the next 30 years.
Well, if I can still use a keyboard and read what I write...

So far, the new stuff is very interesting:
  The Neo Falcon is a good buggy for leisure but has nothing to do with the original Falcon (58056) as it is based on the Sand viper's DT-02 chassis.
  The Rising Fighter (58416) is a minor evolution of the old bulletproof Grasshopper (58043) chassis.
  The CR-01 is an all new chassis on kits 58405, 58414, 58429 and 58436. After the TXT-1 back in 2001 (kit 58280), Tamiya comes back into the rock crawling segment. With the re-release of the so rare Jeep Wrangler body (58141) on kit 58429. At the time (1994), Tamiya had to stop this kit production due to licensing problems on the body. This body is also available on the limited edition XC chassis (kit 84071).
  Re-releases: the Fire Dragon (58403), but also, The Boomerang! (58418).
Thunderstorm at the 2009 Shizuoka model fair, Tamiya announces the re-release of the Rough Rider model kit 58015, the very first of the legendary SRB chassis series first released back in 1979! Surprisingly, it is renamed from Rough Rider to Buggy Champ.
Second Thunderstorm in november 2009, even if if was predictable: Tamiya will re-release the Sand Scorcher in 2010! Of course, it will wear its legendary bodyshell... which definitely opens the way to a Monster Beetle re-release!

On road, the TT-01 chassis evolves to TT-01E, and its competition counterpart TB-02 evolves to TB-03. Note the Lamborghini Countach LP500S bodyshell on kit 58413 is the same as models 58005 and 58008 from 1978 (but in lexan instead of the original ABS).

Note the arrival of brushless motors (3.5, 6.5 and 7.5T) as well as the relevant speed controller: they seem to be targeted to "competition" on-road cars or buggies. Even in option (Hop-Ups for Tamiya), it is a major evolution in Tamiya line-up. Who knows, may be will we soon see a glow-engine Monster Truck like the TNX equiped with this brushless setup to compete against the Emaxx and alikes?
