The 300 series (58301-58400)

Forth episod with the presentation of the 583xx series. Most of the models are still under production and Tamiya intensified its re-release program thanks to its great success.

This series is the TT-01 chassis golden age: it is the base of over thirty models and quite often, the bodies are also available for the TB-01 or TB-02 chassis which is the racing conterpart of the TT-01. It is also the great come back of off-road vehicles with buggies for leisure and racing, Monster Trucks based on the WR-01 chassis and the even greater come back of the "3 speed" models, some 18 years after the Toyota 4x4 Pick Up Mountaineer (58111). Of course, in nearly 20 years, the drivetrain system was greatly improved, but the idea remains the same and fans do love it.

Tamiya re-release program started in the previous series emphasized, sometimes even with limited "Chrome" or "Gold" editions that sell like hot cakes. These old models designed 20 years ago (or more) still provide either pure performances or pleasure still up to date compared to actual models.

Finally, the 58306 Neo Shot kit: it can be found on official Tamiya web sites with photo and sell price, but it has never been produced. The 4 wheel belt driven MB-01 chassis was the first of its kind in Tamiya buggy production. In fact, my guess is that Tamiya decided not to produce it for whatever reason at the very last moment. Instead, they decided to design the DB-01 chassis that was later released in 2007 (58395 Durga). By the way, this may give us a clue about how long Tamiya takes to design a new chassis...
